New Words and Expressions

One new word and expression, both derived and used commonly recently, use them in your everday lives and they may be accepted into the English language.

Gription (Grip-shun)- Noun; 1. The property of gripping and providing traction. Synonymous with traction.
Etymology- A blend of grip and traction.
Example(s): 1. The conveyor belt has good gription. 2. Ice causes a loss of gription.

Gription is a word, but has only been recorded 6 times. It is not in any dictionary except Wiktionary, a sister program to Wikipedia, but with some use, it may make it there.

Changing your shirt: an expression whose origins come from when my dad, after a long day of golf, goes up stairs to change his shirt. While he was up there, he decided the bed looked nice, and laid on it after changing his shirt. He came down two hours later after a nice nap, thus the meaning of the expression is 'to take a nap after doing something you said you would, but not notify others of your nap'.

Use these in you daily lives, and perhaps they will be accepted into the language.
